Adartha “Dottie” Thomas Minegar, 88 of Elkhart, died at 7:18 am Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 at Hubbard Hill Estates.
She was born October 3, 1922 in Noble County, Indiana to Earl E. and Edna (Ridinger) Hicks and married Raymond H. Minegar on April 8, 2003 in Elkhart. He survives with her daughter, Mary L. (William) Rowe of Yacolt, WA; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Danny L. Thomas and 3 sisters, Izola McMillen, Vera Hicks and Bonnie Wade.
Dottie worked for the City of Elkhart as an assistant to Mayor Eleanor Kesim in Human Relations, and an assistant to Howard Hostetler in the Human Resource office. She previously was a legal secretary for various attorney offices. She was a long time member of Clark Memorial Church, a 58 year member of the Women of the Moose and the American Women’s Business Associates.
Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Sunday and one hour prior to the 1 pm service Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart. Rev. Mardell Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
