Alexander Jansen, 83, of Bristol passed away Thursday, May 25 at Elkhart Hospice House.

He was born October 23, 1933 in Aachen, Germany to Helena DeGroot. He married Agatha M. Schreurs on October 11, 1958 in Roermond, Netherlands. She survives along with 3 daughters, Nicole (Daniel) Panaccione of Morgantown, WVA, Karina (Dragan Mejic) Jansen of Brighton, CO and Emily (Brian Gehrs) of Milwaukee, WI; 4 grandchildren, Maria and Alex Panaccione and Pavle and Ariaan Mejic and 2 half-brothers, Pete and Frans Schreurs both of Maastricht, Netherlands.

He was a well-respected painter and businessman operating Alexander Jansen Painting and Decorating Co. and Alex’s Paint Store for over 50 years.

Alex served for 2 years in the Dutch Army and was a member of the Bristol Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus, Elkhart Council # 1043. He had earned his black belt designation in Judo of which he was very proud.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 27th from 4-5 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where a memorial service will begin at 5 pm. Fr. Zachary Barry will officiate. Cremation was chosen.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Knights of Columbus #1043 or the Center for Hospice Care.
