Alice Mae Burke

Alice M. Burke, 93 of Elkhart, passed away Jan. 18, 2015 at Greenleaf Health Campus.

She was born Nov. 19, 1921 in Elkhart to Marion S. and Gertrude (Bushong) Wyland. She married Kenneth E. Burke on Nov. 1, 1942 in Elkhart. He died on Nov. 2, 2003. Surviving are 2 sons, David Burke of Elkhart and Jerry (Thalei) Burke of Crystal Falls, MI; a daughter, Karen (David) Kratzer of Elkhart; 4 grandchildren, Julie Bachman, Mike Kratzer, Marissa Burke and Leia Burke and 5 great-grandchildren, Quinn, Wesley, Alyssa, Isabella and Samuel. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, June Moran, brother, Marion Wyland Jr. and an infant grandson, Kenneth E. Burke.

Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing cards with family. She was an avid Cubs fan.

Visitation for Alice will be from 11am to 1 pm Friday, Jan. 23rd at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where services will be at 1 pm. Marge Braden will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
