Friends of Alice Irene Vescelus will be received at Grace Lutheran Church on December 7 from 9-12 with the Celebration of Life Service at 1pm. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery. She passed away Saturday, November 24, 2023, at Hubbard Hill Healthcare surrounded by love from family and caring staff.
Irene, as she was known to many, was born December 7, 1927, to Albert and Louise (Darry) Engelhardt of Elkhart. She was married to her high school sweetheart Kenneth Vescelus on August 3, 1947, until his passing September 21, 1999. She was predeceased by daughters Laura and Janis. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends and never complaining of life’s many challenges.
Surviving family members include sons Michael (Karen) and Christopher (Jennifer), grandchildren Peter, Craig, and Jackson Vescelus, Nicole Conrad, and Jamin and Clint Lentz, and 8 great-grandchildren. Her older sister Edith Sparks also survives. She and Kenny were charter members of the former Redeemer Lutheran Church, and she also worked 16 years at Adams and Westlake and 14 years at Carpenter.
