Anna M. Horton, 84, of Goshen, IN passed away January 6, 2009 at the Maples at Waterford Crossing, Goshen, after having been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008.
She was born March 17, 1924 in Goshen to Ralph W. and Laverne A. (Day) Ernest and married Norman S. Horton on June 22, 1947 in Goshen. He died July 4, 1989. Surviving are a daughter, Carol (Jack) Seifert of Elkhart, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a brother, Dean Ernest of Goshen. A son, David Horton and 2 brothers, Dale and George Ernest preceded in death.
She was a homemaker and with her husband, owned and operated the By-Pass Drive-in Elkhart for 21 years. She was a lifelong member of Sugar Grove Church and the Beacon Light Class. She was a member of the Elkhart County Campers and Traveling Grangers, and was a member of the Fairview Grange. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing and knitting and was involved with the Michiana Knitters. She sewed every Thursday with the Tabitha Circle at the church. She graduated from Concord High School.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart and an hour prior to the services on Saturday at 11 am at Sugar Grove Church, 58512 Old CR# 17, Goshen. Reverend Rick Gering will officiate. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
