Arlene Lehman Hutton, 89 of Elkhart, passed away April 5, 2014 at Emeritus Eastlake Terrace.
She was born July 19, 1924 in Eureka, IL to Edward and Emma (Haag) Lehman. She married Earl O. Hutton on February 5, 1954 in Indianapolis. He died June 20, 1985. Surviving are 2 daughters, Sandra (Alan) Hutton-Thomas of Lawrenceburg, KY and Denise Cox of Tampa, FL; 5 grandchildren, Timothy Lee, Deanne Sherman, Charlotte Hollon, Tracy Branham and Cody Cox; 8 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Clifford (Maryellen) Lehman and a sister, Edwardine Goranson both of Eureka, IL. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 1 sister and a special friend Mike Bailey.
Arlene was an accountant for 25 years for Ernst and Ernst in Indianapolis, then worked for the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce and then worked for 19 years for the Elkhart County Convention and Visitors Bureau. She attended the nursery at the Presbyterian Church in Edwardsburg and volunteered at the Elkhart Jazz Festival. She won the St. Louis City Golf Tournament in 1951 and had a pilots license. Her favorite plane to fly was a Cessna 185. Arlene earned her Law Degree at the age of 69 from the University of Notre Dame.
Visitation for Arlene will be Tuesday, April 8th from 4-7 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart, where a service will be held at 7 pm. Barbara Wirt, C.R.E., will officiate. Graveside services will be Thursday, April 10th at 1 pm at Glendale Cemetery, Washington, IL.
