Arline C. Miller, age 98, of Middlebury, passed away Monday September 28, 2020 at her daughter’s home. She was born October 22, 1921 in Hazeldell, Saskatchewan, Canada to Arthur and Genevieve Chaddock. She married Merritt “Mike” Miller on July 23, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Fremont, Michigan.
Arline graduated from Dearborn High School. After college she enlisted in the United States Wave, unfortunately she was diagnosed with TB and could no longer continue her services to our country. She graduated from Detroit Business School and Muskegon Business School. She formerly was the office manager for Leo Koening dental office, and was the secretary at Trinity United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member at Bethel United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne. Arline was a member of Eve Circle at the United Methodist Church for women, former Girl Scout Leader and loved making art projects. She worked to improve maritime safety and enjoyability through the U.S. Power Squadron.
Arline is survived by her daughters, Sharon A. (Buford) Leer of Middlebury and Susan McMullan of Fishers, IN; her grandchildren, Lori (Benjamin) Smith, Sara Leer and Andrew (Candace) McMullan and her great-grandchildren, Christopher and Sammi, Benjamin, Dakota, Rebecca, Noah, Danielle, Nathan, Brian, Madelyn, Tatum, Evelyn and Finley. Arline was preceded in death by her husband, her grandson, Brian McMullan, her brother, Arthur D. Chaddock, her son-in-law Phillip McMullan and her sister Marian C. Maracle. Arline’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank-you to two special caregivers Wynona Dennis and Darlene Harroff, and Center for Hospice Care for all of their help and support.
A celebration of Life service will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Sherman Township Cemetery in Fremont, MI.
