Arthur “Art” DeWitt Jr., 83 of Elkhart, passed away April 26, 2016 at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1932 in Elkhart to Arthur and Irene (Miller) DeWitt.
He married Clara Elizabeth Warner on April 3, 1950 in South Bend. She died on Feb. 2, 2006. Surviving are his children, Wanda (Michael) Keyser, Donna Campbell, Rebecca (Thomas) Fallon, Arthur (Karen) DeWitt, Nanette (John) Gillis, Mitchell DeWitt, Sue (Dennis) Imbro and Michael DeWitt; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Miller and 2 son-in-laws, Teddy Duke and Danny Chapman.
Art retired as a machinist for Jessen Manufacturing and then was a self-employed truck driver delivering RV’s. He enjoyed gardening where he was known as the “tomato man”. His grandchildren called him Grandpa Clicker.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 28th from 4-8 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 pm Friday, April 29th, where visitation will be an hour prior. Interment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
