Barbara E. Shearer Carner

Barbara E. Shearer Carner, 92, of Elkhart passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Majestic Care of Goshen. Barbara was born on February 17, 1930, in Elkhart to John Henry and Ethel Mae Krallman. She married Robert L. Shearer  on June 8, 1946 in Elkhart, he passed away on June 4, 2004 she later married Ira Paul Carner on November 17, 2007 in Goshen, he preceded her in death on October 8, 2008.

Barbara loved to spend time with her family and her friends. She enjoyed reading a good book, playing BINGO, growing flowers in her garden and she had a special love for animals. She will be sadly missed.

Barbara is survived by her children Sandra (Marcus) Nisly of Elkhart, Stephen M. (Mary) Shearer of Haines City, FL and  Melody (Bart) Benzinger of Ft. Wayne, IN;  8 grandchildren and  16 great-grandchildren; her siblings Nancy Wagner and Judy (Robert) Bolino. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ethel Krallman, her husbands Robert Shearer and Ira Paul Carner, daughter Sally Jo Sharp;  grandson Todd Shearer, siblings, Jim Krallman, Donald Krallman, John Henry “Jack” Krallman  and Phillip Krallman.

Visitation will be held from 11am – 1pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514.  Interment will be private at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, IN.
