Bernice A. Garber 84, of Elkhart, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016 at her home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1931 in Fort Wayne, IN to Edward and Lois Lee. She married James E. Garber on Dec. 18, 1948 in Rochester, IN. He died on July 25, 2011. Surviving are 8 children, Mary (Phil) Godley of Mishawaka, Larry (Kelli) Garber of Grand Prairie, TX, Pat (Ron) Lantz, Mike (Cindy Bryan) Garber, Jim (Trish) Garber Jr., Deb Schuelke, Tim (Tammy) Garber and Terry Garber all of Elkhart; 23 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dale Lee of Vandalia, MI and Tom (Terri) Lee of White Pigeon, MI and a sister, Karen Poth of Bristol. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Stephen and David Garber and 4 brothers, Arnold, Richard, Robert and Donald Lee.
Bernice was a homemaker and loved her children and grandchildren and her dog, “Dottie”.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 pm Friday, July 8th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 pm. Pastor Jack Rorie will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and interment will be at Prairie Street Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Center for Hospice Care.
