Bertha R. Hayes

Bertha R. “Rose” Hayes died Thursday, August 6, 2009, at 1:55 pm, at home, 325 S. Elkhart Ave. in Wakarusa. She was born August 13, 1925 in Bad Axe, Michigan to Charles W.W. and Bertha A. Albertson. On November 1, 1945 she married Ivan S. Hayes in Dowagiac. He died July 17, 2002.

Surviving Mrs. Hayes is a daughter, Mrs. DeVon (Linda) Rose of Wakarusa; a stepson, Danny S. Hayes of Punta Gorda, Florida; 1 grandson; 4 great-granddaughters; 3 step-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Albertson of Riverview, Michigan. Two sisters, Grace Morford and Annabelle Bailey; and 3 brothers, Kenneth, Sam and Elmer Albertson preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday with the funeral service following at 1:00 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart. Rev. Brian Cray of Faith United Methodist Church, Goshen will officiate. Burial will take place at Rice Cemetery.
