Bertha M. Peterson

Bertha M. Peterson, 96 of Elkhart, Indiana died May 1, 2008 @ 6:15 P.M. at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart.She was born on May 1, 1912 in Kankakee, Illinois to Julius & Jennie (Soanes) Dubie.She was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Welch since age 7.She married Richard G. Peterson on May 12, 1929 in LaPaz, Indiana. He died March 14, 1985.

Surviving are one son, Richard R. (Christine Blair) Peterson of Elkhart; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Frost and Charles Dubie and four sisters, Trela Boyd, Ruth Schroeder, Dorothy Dubie and Margery Davis. One great-grandson also precedes her in death.

Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Sunday at Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, where services will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday. Reverend David Cross from Hillcrest United Methodist Church will officiate Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.

Mrs. Peterson was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star # 88; Women of the Moose # 73, Elkhart and the National Association of Retired Veterans Railway.
