Betty Beach, 84 of Elkhart, passed away Sept. 29, 2014. Born in Elkhart to Glen and Evelyn (Nine) Clark, she is survived by Edwin D. Beach, her husband of 61 years, her daughter Dala (Denny) Heeg of Elkhart and her son Rollie (Laurie) Beach of North Olmstead, OH; 4 grandchildren and her sister, Jeannine Dirks of Middlebury. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Clark.
Betty was a special education teacher for many years and taught the brightest gifted students as well as the most challenging special needs kids, many of whom society was ready to give up on. She taught music, could make yodeling sound good and could play revival and gospel with the best of them on the organ, piano and accordion. Betty could make a flower grow anywhere there was dirt, preserve any food that was edible and was quite accomplished at ceramics, needlework and candle making. She traveled the country with a gospel group in college, visited the Holy Lands and explored all 50 states, several times, with Ed.
A memorial service for Betty will be at 1 pm Saturday, Oct. 18th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 3 pm.
Memorials may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church, Elkhart. Online condolences may be sent to www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com
