Betty H. Dickey

Betty H. Dickey, 84 of Elkhart, IN. died November 18, 2011 at home. She was born on August 30, 1927 in New Castle, IN. to Thomas A. and Daisy Clara (Haton) Hendricks.
She married Robert L. Dickey on June 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on
November 10, 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Katharine Schmidt of Elkhart; five sons; Samuel (Ellen) and Andrew Dickey of Elkhart, Steven (Delores) and Scott Dickey of Indianapolis, IN. and Ross (Dawn) Dickey of Edwardsburg, MI.; Seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a nephew, Bill (Marilyn) Hendricks of Marion, IN. She was preceded in death by brothers Lloyd, Wendell, Gerald and Vaughn Hendricks.

Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at
St. John’s the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 226 West Lexington Ave. Elkhart with
Fr. Daniel Repp, Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, Wakarusa.

Betty was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and Hillcrest United Methodist Church, Frontier club, Joy Group and the Y Girls. She loved to knit and sew. She worked for many years as a secretary for Kelsey Axle and most recently Miles Laboratories. Memorial contributions may be given to either St. John’s Episcopal or Hillcrest United Methodist Church.
