Betty Maxine Harris

Betty "Maxine" Harris, 86 of 1624 Windsong, Elkhart, Indiana died at 4:23 AM January 18, 2009 at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born August 22, 1922 in Elkhart to Eugene and Nettie (Weaver) Fergison.She married Edmond H. Harris on June 11, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri.

He survives along with three daughters; Linda (Michael) Pittman of Madison, Indiana, Rosa (Adam) Bossnack of Elkhart, Indiana and Vivian (Bruce) Ledbetter of Cincinnati, Ohio, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchldren. She is preceded in death by three sisters; Maryann Swarm, Ethel Signs and Amanda Hartman and four brothers, Ruben, Tobias, LeRoy and Edward Fergison.

There will be a memorial service held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart with the Reverend Ron Spyker of Jefferson Brethren Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service to visit with the family.

Mrs. Harris worked for Miles Laboratories for six years in the tablet room, then went to work for Crystal Electronics for twenty years as a solder technician.She played for a traveling basketball team and was an avid crocheter.Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
