Betty A. Stewart

Betty A. Stewart, 91, of Elkhart, died August 31, 2011 at 12:35 pm at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart. She was born in Kosciusko County, IN on June 11, 1920 to Esta Roy and Cora Gripe. On December 2, 1939 she married Wendell Paul Jones in Claypool, IN. He died January 7, 1977. She married Charles W. Stewart Sr. in 1978 and he died May 9, 2009.

She is survived by 2 daughters Linda Shaw of Elkhart, and Paula (Steve) Spratt of Elkhart; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 3 stepsons Charles W. (Patricia) Stewart Jr. of Lufkin, TX, Richard (Janet) Stewart of Elkhart and James (Carolyn) Stewart of Riverside, CA; and a stepdaughter Susan (Robert) Stone of Elkhart. Six brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Betty retired from CTS Corp. as an assembly worker. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and enjoyed painting, flowers and gardening.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 pm with visitation one hour prior at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart. Pastor Carl Henry will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
