Betty L. Weldy

Betty L. Weldy, 84 of Elkhart, Indiana died January 7, 2010 @ 12:05 A.M. at Elkhart Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 23, 1925 in Nappanee, Indiana to Roy and Pearl (Hochstetler) Strauss. She married Mearl C. Weldy on October 20, 1946 in Nappanee, Indiana. He died November 29, 1976.

Survivors include two sons; Jeffrey (Kelli) Weldy of Elkhart and Michael (Elizabeth) Weldy of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Joan Walsh and Lara (Glen) Henderich both of Goshen, Indiana and Jane (Henry) Gehman of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. A brother, Lyle Strauss and sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Jean Phillips preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Friday at Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart and one hour prior to the service which will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Reverend Dr. Mark Fenstermacher of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.

Mrs. Weldy retired from Miles Laboratories after 25 years in the accounts receivable department. She previously had worked for Indiana Michigan Power Company, Whitehall Laboratories and Sinclair Oil Company. She was a member of the church and the Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority.
