Billie Nicholson

Billie Nicholson, 87, of Elkhart, died at 7:50 pm Friday, July 29, 2011 at Valley View Healthcare Center, Elkhart.

He was born August 13, 1923 in Essex, MO to George and Jane (Smith) Nicholson and married Loretta Blaszak on May 2, 1942 in Chicago. She died February 12, 1996. Surviving are 2 daughters Carolyn (Harold) Fleenor of Rochelle, IL and Linda (Gary) Nicholson-Green of Elkhart; a son, Randall (Doris) Nicholson of Elmwood Park, IL; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a brother, Bob Nicholson of Des Plaines, IL and a sister, Irma (Tom) Black of Anna, IL. He was preceded in death by a brother, Oral.

Billie retired from Pettibone Inc. after 19 ½ years as a tool and die maker. He then worked for Montgomery Ward Co. and Damon Corp.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart where services will be held at 10 am Tuesday. Rev. Scott Tilley will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army and D.A.V. # 19.
