Bodo Manfred Gunther Grubert, 83, of Elkhart, passed away at home peacefully, surrounded by his family, Saturday June 27th.
He was born Oct. 11, 1931 in Noerenburg, Germany to Paul J. and Martha (Westphal) Grubert. On Oct. 25, 1952 in Centerville, MI he married Clara V. Miller, who survives along with 2 daughters: Karen (Bill) Fowler of Tabor City, NC and Linda (Steven) Grubert-Miller of Raleigh, NC, a son Heinz (Jill) Grubert of Elkhart, 10 Grandchildren and 20 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Paul, 2 brothers: Horst and Heinz Grubert and his parents.
He attended Kreizsaatzig Military School and University of Stuttgart in Germany and received his apprenticeship through Siemens. He also was taught the art of cobbling. He was one of the few who specialized in translating Gothic German writings and handwriting analysis.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am Thursday July 2 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart, where a service will be held at 11am with Pastor Charles Geiser of Hively Avenue Mennonite Church officiating. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
Memorials may be made to Hively Avenue Mennonite Church Preschool or the Alzheimer’s Association.
