Charles "Chuck" Hardies, III

Charles Edward Hardies III, age 81, of Bristol passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Courtyard Healthcare in Goshen. Chuck was born on July 9, 1940 in Schenectady, NY to Charles and Dorethea Hardies. He married Linda Soncarty on January 16, 1982 at the First Presbyterian Church in Elkhart.

Charles graduated from Northwood Preparatory School in Lake Placid, NY and he graduated from Clarkson College. He retired from an entrepreneurship in products for the automotive industry. He enjoyed building and collecting model trains and making elaborate cities and towns to show the scenic routes the trains would travel. He was also known for being adventurous from traveling, golfing and skiing. To his family he was the “Grill Master”.  Most recently he and his wife enjoyed trail walking. The greatest love for Chuck was spending time with his family.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Linda Hardies of Bristol, their children Tom (Erin) Hardies of Burr Ridge, IL. Mark (Kimberly) Soncarty of Middlebury, IN; April (Jon) Wyngarden of Bristol, IN; grandchildren Jill Hardies, Anne Hardies, Dylan Soncarty, Cole Soncarty, Hannah (Justin) Davis, Dain Wyngarden, Reid Wyngarden and Jac Wyngarden; brother Jeff (Brenda) Hardies of Amsterdam, NY; sisters Lisa Hoffmaster of Glenn Falls, NY, Bettina (Kim) Hoffman of Savanah, GA and Carol Hathaway of North Andover, MA. Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Hardies Bucko.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at 2pm on Monday, December 27, 2021 where friends may visit with family from 12pm -2pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.
