Charles L. Lambdin, 82, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Hospice House, Elkhart. He was born on December 14, 1934 in Elkhart, IN to Louie and Oleta M. (Hook) Lambdin. He married Kay J. Zimmerman on July 16, 1988 in Elkhart. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2006.
Charles is survived by: 3 daughters; Cheryl Lambdin of Indianapolis, IN, Michelle (Lawrence) Bilinski of South Bend, IN and Lisa Lambdin of Elkhart; a son, Scott (Sarah) Lambdin of Elkhart; a step-son, Gary (Kim) Rutledge of Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a brother, Frederick Keidaish of LaPlata, MD.
After graduating from high school in Gary, IN, Charles was the manager for Allied Radio (Radio Shack) in Gary, IN. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served on the Elkhart City Police Department and retired as a Detective/Sergeant after 23 years of service. He then earned his Real Estate License, and was employed with Fortino Realty for 5 years. He was a 32 Degree Mason at Tyrian Lodge, and a member of FOP Lodge #52, Moose Lodge #73 and the Train Collectors Association (TCA).
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday January 25, 2017 from 2-8 P.M. at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where a Masonic Service will be at 7 P.M. A Funeral Service in his honor will be on Thursday at 10 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and DAV #19.
