Charles Speraw Jr. of Pine Ridge Court, Elkhart died August 7, 2008 @ 6:55 A.M. at Elkhart General Hospital.He was born on July 12, 1924 in Elkhart to Charles and Mabel (Bumbaugh) Speraw Sr.He married Barbara R. Shelley on August 7, 1945 in Topeka, Kansas.She preceded him in death on May 27, 2008.

Survivors include three daughters; Marsha (Jim) Wirt, Karen (Jim) Carrico and Linda (Robert) Friend all of Elkhart, a son, Brent (Jill) Speraw of Indianapolis, Indiana; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.Two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Speraw and his stepmother, Caroline Speraw preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Sunday at Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart and also one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, 831 West Marion Street, Elkhart.Reverend Timothy Diemer and Sister Nora Frost will officiate.Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.

Mr. Speraw worked for Associates Financial Services for 35 years as a Manager and Service Representative.He retired from IOI Company as a Courier for 18 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he was active in Men of Missions.He was the official timekeeper for the Elkhart Memorial and Central High School Football games for 45 years.He was a Cubs and IU Basketball supporter.After he got out of the service, he was involved in the Northern Indiana Fast Pitch Softball for 20 years in Elkhart and was a High School Basketball Referee.He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a gunner.
