Charles W. Stewart Sr.

Charles W. Stewart Sr., 93, of Elkhart, died at 1:43 am Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born February 10, 1916 in Morgantown, WV to Charles R. and Rosalie (Corbin) Stewart and married Esther Hansen in 1937. She died in 1970. He then married Betty Jones who survives along with 3 sons, Charles W. (Patricia) Stewart Jr. of Lufkin, TX, Richard A. (Janet) Stewart of Elkhart, and James D. (Carolyn) Stewart of Riverside, CA; 1 daughter, Susan (Robert) Stone of Elkhart; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 step-daughters, Linda Shaw and Paula (Steve) Spratt both of Elkhart and 1 sister, Elsie Tweeten of Alamo, TX.

Mr. Stewart retired in 1981 as an electronic technician for CTS Corporation in Elkhart and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church.

Friends may call from 4-8 pm Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. The funeral will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastor Carl Henry of Northside Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
