Charles A "Charley" Nye

Charles “Charley” Anthony Nye, 87, of Elkhart passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Majestic Healthcare in Goshen, IN. Charley was born on July 1, 1935 in Elkhart, IN to Carlos and Lulu Nye.

Charley graduated from Elkhart High School and went on to honorably serve his county in the United States Army, during 1953- 1957 serving in Panama. He was the owner Nye Appraisal Services in Elkhart. He was the Elkhart City Champion in Handball and Doubles City Handball Champ. He also enjoyed playing volleyball and was a volleyball official.

Charley is survived by his children Jeffrey P. Nye of New York, Josee-Marie Plant of Arizona, David Nye of California and Brock Nye of Florida, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild; his siblings William “Bill” Nye of Colorado, Mary Davis of Warsaw, IN and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Charley was preceded in death by his parents Carlos and Lulu Nye, his brother Frederick Nye, sister-in-law Betty Nye and brother-in-law Patrick A. Davis

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1108 South Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46516 where visitation will be one hour before mass. He will be laid to rest next to his parents at Rice Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent Catholic Church or Elkhart Health Aquatics 2300 East Jackson Blvd. Elkhart, IN 46516.
