Claudine Sue Herrington went home to be with our Lord Thursday March 17, 2016 from her brief residence at Briarcliff Health and Rehabilitation Center in South Bend, IN. She was born in Detroit Michigan on May 4, 1936 to Claude R. Herrington and Jessie L. (Shamp) Herrington. Claudine moved to Ferndale in 1937 where she resided until 2012.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, among them are her nephew and caregiver Gary L. (Susie) Herrington of Elkhart, IN and Daniel (Becky) Dickinson of Ferndale, MI.
Her parents and siblings, Glenn Herrington, Robert Herrington, Judith Dickinson, and Melvin Herrington preceded her in death.
Claudine graduated in 1954 from Lincoln High School in Ferndale, MI and continued education attending Spring Arbor Junior College in Spring Arbor, MI, Greenville College in Greenville, IL, and Wayne State University in Detroit, MI; she received her Master of Science in Education Degree in January 1963 with a major in Special Education. She studied music in school and received private lessons from elementary age until graduation. Claudine taught school for 35 years from 1958 to 1993 in the public schools at St. Louis, MI, and the Lamphere Schools in Madison Heights, MI.
Claudine enjoyed her retirement pursuing her love of art, taking classes at Oakland Community College in Royal Oak, MI and Wayne State University in Detroit, MI working with a variety of mediums. She enjoyed travelling, photography, and her beloved show dogs.
Claudine dedicated her life to giving to others; she loved her family, friends, church, and community. She was a member of the Ferndale Free Methodist Church, Phi Theta Kappa, and a past Red Coat Volunteer at the Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI.
