Dan E. Franklin

Dan E. Franklin, 61, of Bristol, Indiana, passed away at 8:38 am, December 29, 2008 at Goshen General Hospital, where he finished a 3 year fight with cancer.

He was born January 26, 1947 in Normal, IL to Charles W. Franklin and Geraldine Bruyn Alecock. He married Kathy L. Smith on June 1, 1980 in Elkhart. She survives with 2 daughters, Michele (Keith) Minor of LaMonte, MO and Lucinda (Ed) Palmatier of Northwood, OH; 2 grandchildren, Jacob Minor and Kelsea Minor of LaMonte, MO; 1 sister, Bonnie Lazenby of Sedalia, MO and 1 brother, Charles Franklin of Red Bluff, CA. A brother, Jerry Franklin and his parents preceded in death.

Dan graduated from Monmouth (ILL) High School and was a bus driver for Elkhart Community Schools serving the Bristol Elementary School. He was past president and officer for the Elkhart Dahlia Society and graduated from the first class as an advanced Master Gardener. He was a member of the Michiana Bee Keepers Association and was part owner of the Fruit Hills Honey and Supply Co.

Friends may call from 9 am to 11:30 am Friday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. Services will be at 11:30 am Friday at the funeral home with Reverend Jerry Wittrig of North Goshen Mennonite Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol.

Memorials may be given in Dans name to the American Cancer Society.
