David V. Edwards

David V. Edwards, age 67, of Elkhart passed away at home surrounded by his family. David was born on March 24, 1955 in Paducah, KY to Calvin and Mary Edwards. He married Sally J. Edwards she preceded him in death on February 2, 2001, he married Gloria J. Maurer-Edwards on November 3, 2001 and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2015.

David grew up and graduated from high school in Benton, Marshall County, Kentucky in February 1985 and pursed a college career as a barber. He honorably served his county in the United States Navy from April of 1972 to February of 1975. David enjoyed traveling on the open road as a truck driver L.E. Smith Trucking, he became disabled at the age of 50. In his spare time, he enjoyed gambling, pull tabs and calling Bingo at Rainbow BINGO Hall for over 15 years. He also enjoyed arrowhead hunting and fishing and looking for item with his metal detector. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans #19 in Elkhart.

David is survived by his daughter, Victoria (Terry) Compton of Elkhart; step-sons, Brian (Denise) Maurer of Elkhart, Jason (Jennifer) Maurer of Colorado; step-daughter Sheila (Chad) Howard; he was a father figure to Glenda (Joshua) Whitehead of Elkhart; 4 grandchildren James Browning, Christy Browning, Ashley Browning and Summer Browning; 9 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, Adelynn Browning, Jayden Browning, Trevon Beachy and Jaina Beachy; 1 step-great-grandson; his siblings Gary (Becky) Edwards of Milford, IN whom is currently at home under hospice homecare and Michael Scott (Misty) Solomon of Glasgow, KY; his best friend, his dog Dudley and he was a great-uncle, too. David was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Mary, step-son Larry Signs, whom passed away several years ago; his brother Terry Edwards and his sister Barbra Grugett.

Funeral services will be at 4pm on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where visitation will be from 2-4 pm. Military honors will follow the service. A graveside service will be at 2pm Friday July 15, 2022 at California Road Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorial donations may be made to his family.
