David I. Shanholt

David I. Shanholt, 79 of Elkhart, passed away on Thursday, April 25th in his home. He was born July 4, 1939 in Elkhart to Raymond and Loween (Fisher) Shanholt. He married Bonnie M. Johnson on June 15, 1958. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, 2 sons, Michael (Tina) Shanholt of Elkhart and Joseph (Lori) Shanholt of Brownsburg, IN; 4 grandchildren, Michelle (Carl) Shanholt, Steven (Alea) Shanholt, Matt Shanholt and Nicki Shanholt; 3 great-grandchildren, Gabe, Eli and Brayden; brother in law, Bill Edwards; nieces, Jennifer (Shannon) Callaway, Suzanne (Mike) Stajkowski, Candy (Rod) Huskey, Deb Bentlage and special friends, Lois Bostian and Al (Marie) Kidder. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sherry Edwards.

Dave graduated from Elkhart High School in 1958 and was the owner of the Sinclair, ARCO and Marathon Service Stations from 1958 to 2000. He also was a partner in Froggy’s ball service. He was a member and past president of the Elkhart Evening Optimist Club and the Diner’s Club.

Visitation for Dave will be from 5-8 pm on Monday, April 29th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home and an hour prior to the 11 am funeral service on Tuesday, April 30th. Rev. Tom DeFries will officiate. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery at a later date.
