Dean L. Wall, 79 of Bristol, Indiana died May 30, 2008 at 8:12 a.m. at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on August 30, 1928 in Bristol, Indiana to Duffy and Ruth (Artley) Wall.He married Mary M. Wetzel on June 5, 1948 in Middlebury, Indiana.She preceded him in death on December 14, 2006.
Surviving are two daughters; Kathy Wall of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Karen (Randy) Wall-Ragsdale of Elkhart; a step-grandson, Matthew Adam Ragsdale and a step-granddaughter, Amy Lee Ragsdale both of Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive.A brother, Richard Wall preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 2-5 P.M. Sunday at Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart where services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday. Reverend Fred Stayton of Bristol United Methodist Church will officiate.
Mr. Wall sold cars for Tom Naquin, Jigg Swanson and Pete Fall Ford. He then worked as a Sales Representative for Elcona Homes for 8 years and Sterling Corporation for 10 years. He was a member of the Bristol United Methodist Church.He pitched for the Cubs Minor League for the 1948 season. He was an avid golfer, basket ball and baseball player. In 2001, he was inducted into the Elkhart County Sports Hall of Fame. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the country on their Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of one's choice.
