Devon "Bunny" Beehler

Devon H. “Bunny” Beehler, 93 of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 in his home.

He was born March 27, 1921 in Elkhart to John R. and Ethel Mae (Zentz) Beehler. He married Betty Lou Hayes on Nov. 10, 1943 in Elkhart. She died June 21, 1994. He then married Patricia A. Moore on March 30, 1996. She survives with his children, Linda (Gary) Sutherland of Elkhart, James D. (Linda) Beehler of Noblesville and John H. (Julie) Beehler of Naperville, IL; Step-daughter, Judith Hendershot of Elkhart and step-son Greg (Sharon) Moore of Bloomington, IN; 7 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Verna (Phil) Crussemeyer of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, George and Leonard Beehler.

Bunny graduated from Jefferson High School and retired after 39 years as a locomotive engineer for Conrail. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He was inducted into the Elkhart County Sports Hall of Fame for Basketball and enjoyed golfing and fishing.

Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 28th from 2-4 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home and a half hour prior to services at 10:30 am on Monday, Sept. 29th at Faith United Methodist Church. Rev. John Hogsett will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
