Devon Newell

Devon Newell, 68 of 54206 Northwood Drive, Elkhart died April 4, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital.He was born on May 7, 1940 in Elkhart to Myron and Amanda (Hostetler) Newell. He married Carrie L. Sommers on July 9, 1961 in Elkhart. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2007.

Surviving are a son, Scott Newell,2 daughters, Debra Newelland Sara Perez all of Elkhart, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a twin brother, Levon (Sharon) Newell of Goshen, a brother, Rollin Newell and a sister, Ida Williams both of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy, 2 sisters, Dorothy Myers & Esther Smith, 6 brothers, Gene, LaMar, Wyler, Merle and Jay Elliott.

Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart where services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday.Pastor Hubert Schmucker of Clearview United Brethren Church will officaite. Cremation will follow service.

Mr. Newell retired after 41 years as a machinist for Elkhart Products. He was a member of the Clearview United Brethren Church and the Teamsters. Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
