DeWayne C. Pettit

DeWayne C. Pettit, 78 of Elkhart passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his home. He was born June 12, 1936 in Elkhart to Homer and Delores (Quick) Pettit. He married Peg J. Cragun on Nov. 8, 1974 in Elkhart. She survives along with a daughter, Heather (Brad) Stevens of Menifee, CA, a son, Matthew Pettit of Las Vegas, NV, 3 grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner Stevens and Colton Pettit, 2 sisters, Sharon (Tim) Hicks of Elkhart and Judy (Ken) Cooper of Russellville, AL and a brother, Robert (Pam) Pettit of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Jerry and Homer Jr.

DeWayne served in the U.S. Army for 10 years as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles”, and retired as owner of Pettit Plumbing and Heating Co. in Elkhart and Goshen.

Family and friends may visit at the Pettit home on Monday, July 14th from 2- 6 pm. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
