Diana L. “Dee” Phillips, 68, of Phoenix, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 4:25 pm with her family at her side. She was born Nov. 26, 1948, in Elkhart, to the late Joseph M. Phillips Sr. and Phyllis J. (Manthe) Phillips.
Her mother survives in Elkhart. Also surviving are her sister, Christina Allison of Edwards, MO; brother Joseph Phillips (Robert Safro) of Washington, DC; nephew Aaron (Renee) Phillips of Bellevue, NE; grandniece Sage Phillips and grandnephew Kole Phillips of Bellevue, NE; and cousin Pamela (Keith) Miller of Albuquerque, NM. The family would also like to acknowledge many of her caring long-time friends, Nancy (Bolero) Caslick, Georgia Henrie, Phyllis Warrick, Patty Fuller and many others.
Diana’s life will be celebrated at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, at 1 pm on Monday, April 17, 2017, with visitation starting two hours prior.
Burial will immediately follow the service at Violett Cemetery in Goshen.
Diana taught social studies and U.S. history at Concord Community Schools and Elkhart Central High School, and was beloved by her students. She later was a tutor, commodities broker and Realtor in Phoenix.
She was a graduate of Ball State University, received her masters at the American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, AZ, and studied in Innsbruck, Austria, and Oxford, England. She was an avid traveler, voracious reader and devoted mentor to family and friends. Her love of people and animals knew no bounds.
