Diane R. Smith

Diane R. Smith, 79 of Middlebury, IN formerly of Bristol went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 30, 2024. Diane was born on January 7, 1945 to Dale and Lois McClure. She married the love of her life Harold Frederick “Fred” Smith on June 24, 1978 at Bristol United Methodist Church in Bristol, IN. Fred preceded her in death on September 30, 2021.

Diane graduated from Bristol High School. She was a long-time member of the Bristol United Methodist Church now Bristol Community Church where she sang in the church choir and was on the praise team and the Pastor Parrish Committee. Her husband Fred was a Mason and Diane was right by his side as an Eastern Star. When Diane wasn’t serving the Lord or traveling’s she enjoyed reading a good book or out shopping, looking for the perfect sale. Diane worked as a receptionist at Oaklawn since 2004 and H.R. Block as a tax preparer for 16 years.

Diane and Fred loved to travel and when Shannon was in the Concord Marching Band, they served as band parents and made trips to Macy’s Parade in New York City, Rose Parade in Pasadena and the King Kamehameha Parade in Honolulu. They traveled to beautiful Scotland and enchanting Europe. They celebrated their 11th anniversary in Venice, Italy, their 25th in Cancun and their 35th in Las Vegas. They also made many wonderful trips around the country on their Honda Goldwing and after those days were a thing of the past, they enjoyed cruising in their Corvette.

Diane survives by her daughter Shannon Yoder of Bristol; grandchildren Tony Fisher and Tyler (Lauren) Fisher, great-grandson Liam Fisher and her sister Cindy (Bryan Wagner) McClure. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

According to Diane wishes, cremation has taken place. Diane had a bright and vibrant personality, please wear bright and vibrant colors in memory of Diane. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Bristol Community Church, 201 South Division Street, Bristol, IN 46507. A celebration of Diane’s life will take place at 12pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 with visitation from 10am -12pm at the church. Pastor Gary Lewis will officiate.
