Don Gene Anderson

Don Gene Anderson, age 87, of Elkhart passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.  Don was born on December 4, 1933, to Clem and Elizabeth Anderson in South Bend, IN.  He married Marilyn J. Baer on December 7, 1961, at the Hungarian Presbyterian Church in South Bend, IN.

Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn J. Anderson; their children, Aleta L. (Brandon) Jeffress of Parker, CO, and Scott R. Anderson of Millersville, PA; grandchildren, Alyssa Buchanan, Hayden Jeffress, Bryce Jeffress, Elizabeth Anderson and Alex Anderson.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don graduated from South Bend Central High School class of 1952.  He retired in 1995 from Honeywell, previously Allied Signal / Bendix, after 36 years in the Propulsion Controls Division specializing in fuel controls.  He was very proud of and enjoyed his family.  He and his wife are members of Faith United Methodist Church.  They enjoyed 20 years wintering in Destin, FL.  They enjoyed traveling and toured all 50 states and especially enjoyed a month long 4500 mile driving tour of Alaska.  They also toured seven countries in Europe in 1987.

Funeral services will be on Monday, July 12, 2021, 1:00 pm, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46514, where visitation will be held between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.  Pastor John Hoggsett from Faith United Methodist Church will officiate.  Internment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN.  Memorial donations may be made to Faith United Methodist Church 22045 CR 18, Goshen, IN 46528 www.faithumc.com or the American Heart Association 300 South Riverside Plaza, Chicago, IL 60606 www.heart.org Online condolences may be made to the family at www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com
