Dorothy “Duffy” J. Blough, 86, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday November 20, 2012 at 6:32 pm in her home.
She was born Sept. 20, 1926 in Wabash, IN., to James W. and Angie A. (Allman) Whalen.
She married Elwyn DeVon Blough on Feb. 14, 1948 at Bristol United Methodist Church in Bristol.
She graduated from Bristol High School Class of 1945. She was a member of Bristol Missionary Church and attended the First Church of God in Bushnell, FL where she and DeVon spent many wonderful years during the winter months.
She is survived by her husband DeVon, 6 children, Stephen (Nancy) Blough of Shipshewana, Evon Schumacher of Pittsford, MI, Beverly (James) Crussemeyer and Cassandra Smith both of Bristol, Lance (Barbara) Blough of Lafayette, TN, and Regina Blough of Three Rivers, MI; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Harold and Malcolm Whalen, a sister M. Geraldine Whalen and her son Tracy O. Blough.
Dorothy was a homemaker and led a very active life. She had a beautiful voice and liked to sing solo’s at church and was in the choir. She enjoyed playing the organ, reading, and was on a bowling league. She loved to roller skate at Eby Pines and had competed in competitions in earlier years. She always helped with Vacation Bible School and in the 40’s she was a 4-H member of Bristol Boosters Club. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and was an extremely loving and caring person that always had an ear to listen and a word of advice.
Visitation for Dorothy will be from 10 am to 1 pm Saturday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where services will be at 1 pm. Pastor Terry Powell will officiate. Interment will be at Zion Cemetery at a later date.
