Dorothy M. Wise

Dorothy M. Wise, 87, of Elkhart, died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 10:30 am at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa.

She was born September 3, 1924 in Three Rivers, MI to Andrew J. and Ida (Bowersox) Osborne. She married Raymond J. Wise on December 25, 1942 in Tampa, FL. He died November 13, 1999.
She is survived by a son Jack (LaVelle) Wise of Elkhart; a daughter Carolyn (David) Lane of Elkhart; 4 granddaughters Lori (Todd) Stork, Michelle (Matt) Brown, Marcie (Dave) Hill and Christie (Shawn) Scheidel; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by one sister.

Dorothy retired after 17 years from Miles Laboratories/Bayer as an accounting bookkeeper. She previously worked in accounting for I.L.C. for 13 years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Elkhart County Campers, and enjoyed playing games. She attended Zion Missionary Church and loved spending time with her family.

Friends may visit the family Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at 11 am at Zion Missionary Church. Rev. Joe Wenger will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
