Douglas W. Nickell

Douglas W. Nickell, 76, of Elkhart passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 19, 20023. Doug was born on April 20, 1947 in Elkhart. He married Glenna Miller on April 26, 1969 at Simpson United Methodist Church, which is now Faith United Methodist Church.

Doug honorably served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. Doug was the President and Owner of Devan Corporation. He and his wife are members of Faith United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors from hunting and fishing, and he was the President of the Michiana Steelheaders. He enjoyed traveling with his family on vacation and simply going to the casino, especially if he won. He truly loved to spend time with friends and family.

Doug is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenna Nickell, their daughter Sarah Kemble of Elkhart, IN and grandsons Kristopher and Kamden Kemble. Doug was preceded in death by his son, Scott Douglas Nickell and parents William and Irene Nickell.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, October 23, 2023 with visitation one hour before the funeral services at the funeral home. Pastor John Hogsett will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN with full military honors. Memorial donations may be made to Elara Caring Hospice 2515 North Bendix Drive #100.
