On December 25, 2014, Drexel “Rex Simpson went to meet his Saviour in heaven.
Rex was born in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Bluffton College in Ohio in 1953 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He served his country honorably as a staff sergeant during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
Upon his return, Rex turned his attention to the business world. He started and owned several businesses and became a highly successful businessman.
He was a loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather and recently a great-grandfather. Rex is survived by his wife and bride of 62 years, his lifelong love, Loraine.
He is also survived by his children, Steven (wife Peggy) Simpson of Raleigh, NC, JoAnn Simpson Burt, (husband Jamie), of Elkhart and Joyce Simpson of Granger. He took great delight in his 6 grandchildren, who also survive him; Alyssa Johnson of Indianapolis, Mark Johnson (wife Yolanda) of Austin, TX, Andrew Simpson, (wife Emily) of Atlanta, GA, Christine Simpson McClain (husband Andy) of Raleigh, NC, Marianne Simpson of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Carolyn Burt of Norman, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his great-grandson Hagen Drexel Simpson of Atlanta. Hagen was named after Rex.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 am service on Tuesday Dec. 30th
at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart with Pastor Karen Bray officiating. Burial will follow at White Pigeon Cemetery, White Pigeon, MI.
