Edith Carolyn (Domsitz) Fessler

January 8, 1926 — January 26, 2022

Union, MIchigan

Edith Fessler, 96, of Union, Michigan passed away January 26, 2022 at her home.

She was born on January 8, 1926 in Dayton Ohio to Edward A. and Lydia J. Domsitz, both of whom immigrated as children to the United States from Hungary.

Preceding her in death was her husband Francis X. Fessler, formerly of Penn/Johnson Controls.

Also preceding in death were three sisters Lydia Domsitz, Marguerite Schmidt and Gertrude St Pierre, as well as brother Edward Paul Domsitz of Brookville, Ohio.

Surviving are Frank and Edith’s children, John (Geralyn) Fessler of Petaluma, California, Carolyn (Paul) Williams of New Albany, Indiana, and Francis X. (Julie) Fessler Jr. of St. Charles, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Regina (James) Rhine of Ukiah, California, Jack Fessler of Petaluma, Lydia (Nate) Williams White of Indianapolis, Frances (Andrew) Pratt of Alameda, California, Charles (Molly) Williams of Cincinnati, Frankie X. Fessler III and Tess Fessler of St. Charles, Missouri. Edith also was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Walter Williams-White, and Madeline and Emmelia Rhine.

She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law Joyce A. Domsitz of Brookville, Ohio.

Edith was “Aunt Sweet” to her many Domsitz nieces, nephews and their families. She loved travel, antiquing, birdwatching, lake life, gardening and Notre Dame football. Her home was full of books, music and photo albums, and she decorated tables and windows for each holiday of the year. She held a strong faith in the Catholic Church and treasured memories of a pilgrimage to Italy to hear Pope John Paul II in a small group setting.

The family is grateful for Father Bob Van Kempen, from St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church and their Communion ministers, Porter Township EMS, All About You Home Care, Elara Caring Hospice and our loving Sunset Blvd neighbors for their support.
