Edward T. Gurka

Edward T. Gurka, 92, of Bristol, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Courtyard Healthcare Center, Goshen.

He was born November 13, 1919 in Yonkers, New York to Joseph and Nellie (Lorenz) Gurka and married Garnet B. Lehman on November 2, 1942 in Elkhart. She died October 25, 1997. Surviving are a daughter, Karen (Woody) Gustafson of Bristol, 4 grandchildren, Lori (Scott) Denman, Lisa (Rodney) Campbell, Woody (Missy) Gustafson Jr., and Brent Ernsberger; 9 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 1 sister.

He retired as an electrician from Shaum Electric Company in Elkhart after many years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bristol, Knights of Columbus, the Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge. He was an avid golfer.

Visitation will be on Monday from 6-8 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where services will be held at 11 am Tuesday. Fr. Bob VanKempen will officiate. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
