Eldon B. “Danny” Merrick, 92 of Elkhart, passed away on Friday evening, Dec. 7, 2018 at the Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born Aug. 30, 1926 in Elkhart to Forrest and Caroline (Sensenbaugh) Merrick Sr. He married Laura Lee Parisho on July 2, 1949 in Elkhart. She preceded him in death on Jan. 27, 2011. Surviving are 3 daughters, Penny Copsey of Elkhart, Cynthia (Curtis) Kamisugi of Honolulu, Hawaii and Rebecca (Jay) Jennings of Twenty-Nine Palms, California; 2 sons, William Merrick of Elkhart and Dan (Karon) Merrick of St. James City, Florida; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Iona Wesley of Indianapolis, Doris Maddux of Goshen, Dorothy (Gilles) Daoust of Texas and Thelma (Robert) Bohli of Penfield, New York and 2 brothers, Francis (Beverly) Merrick of LaJunta, Colorado and Firmer (Jean) Merrick of Goshen. He was preceded in death by 2 brother, Welmer and Forrest Merrick Jr.
Eldon served in the U.S. Army-Air Corps during World War II and retired from C.T.S. Corporation as a tool and die foreman after 36 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was an avid woodworker and enjoyed gardening, and feeding birds and squirrels. He was a perfectionist in any endeavor.
Visitation for Eldon will be from Noon to 2 pm Wednesday, Dec. 12th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where a funeral service will begin at 2 pm. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and the D.A.V. #19, Elkhart. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Prairie Street Cemetery at a later date.
