Elizabeth Jean (Tollefsrud) Jozwiak passed away Saturday February 25, 2012 at IU Health, Goshen Hospital surrounded by family after a brief illness.
She was born April 21, 1925 in St. Paul, MN and was raised in International Falls, MN.
After graduating from Falls High School, she traveled to the Twin Cities and worked as Rosie the Riveter, assembling planes for Northwest Airlines to be used during World War II. She returned back home and worked as secretary in the chemistry lab for Boise Paper Mill. She traveled with a friend to South Bend to serve as her friend’s maid of honor, where she met and later married the best man, Marion Jozwiak on April 23, 1944. She worked as secretary in the rectory of Our Lady of Hungary Church for many years. After moving to Elkhart, she assisted her husband in owning and operating Bugsy’s Elkhart Exterminating, as a book keeper.
She was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Daughters of Isabella. Elizabeth and Marion raised four children, Michael, Richard, David and Michelle. Her greatest accomplishment was her grandchildren. She loved each one greatly and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She prided in their accomplishments and they miss her terribly. Their aspiration is to live up to her exemplary life of loving and giving. Her legacy is for them to live every day to its fullest and for them to set a goal and accomplish it. She will be their guardian angel. Her hobbies were gardening, baking and cooking, as well as traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marion, and a brother Orin Tollefsrud. Surviving are her sisters, Mary (Ken) Johnston, Sue (Don) Carrier, Kay Wilson, and Sandy (Tom) Schaaf; her children, Michael Jozwiak, Richard (Jackie) Jozwiak, David Jozwiak, and Michelle Jozwiak, and her loving grandchildren, Christopher and Darrel Jozwiak, Randy, Matthew and Allen Jozwiak, Markus Petties, and Phelicia Jozwiak and 3 great-grandchildren.
