Elmars Rozitis

Elmars Rozitis, 87, of Elkhart, died at 7 am, May 30, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born May 4, 1923 in Cesis, Latvia to Rudolfs and Anna (Smits) Rozitis and married Maiga Pompovs on Nov. 11, 1948 in Caracas, Venezuela. She died Sept. 13, 1986. Surviving are a daughter, Mara Rozitis of Elkhart, a son, Ansis Rozitis of Phoenix, AZ, 2 grandchildren and a sister, Rasma (Zigurds) Krauklis of Fishers, IN. A step-son, Valdis Kuplis preceded in death.

Mr. Rozitis was a production manager and Co-owner of Atlas Die Inc., Elkhart for 27 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo, MI. He loved fishing, traveling and hiking.

Friends may call from 3-7 pm Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Private family services will be held Friday with Rev. Biruta Puike officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
