Emma E. Wert, 90, of Greenleaf Living Center, Elkhart, formerly of Union, MI, died July 16, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at her home.
She was born July 17, 1918 in Middlebury, Indiana to Harry and Macy (Bolinger) Eby who preceded her in death. On June 29, 1946 she married Ellsworth R. Wert in Middlebury. He died August 2, 2008.
Mrs. Wert is survived by a sister, Jennie Henriksen of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mrs. Wert retired after working as an assembler at CTS Corporation for 34 years. Previously she had worked in production at Miles Laboratories. She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy Waves. She graduated with the class of 1936 from Middlebury High School. She was a charter member of Winding Waters Brethren Church and loved to fish and hunt.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, where her funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Ron Walters of Winding Waters Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery in Middlebury. Military graveside honors will be rendered by American Legion Post 210, Middlebury.
