Erma L. Fluke, 86, of 181 N. Elkhart Avenue, Elkhart, passed away February 5, 2009 at Greencroft Healthcare Center, Goshen.
She was born March 13, 1922 in Lincoln, Illinois to Floyd and Gertrude (Rowe) Hammond and married Merle F. Fluke on July 9, 1949 in Elkhart. He survives with a daughter, Sheila (Doyle) McCauley of Elkhart, 2 sons, Floyd F. Fluke of Vermillion, OH, Michael A. (Chris) Fluke of Olathe, KS, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Jean Kidder of Goshen and Trudy Swinehart of Tuscon, AZ. A brother, Lee Hammond preceded in death.
Mrs. Fluke was a bookkeeper for Family Fashions for 12 years and also had worked at W.T. Armstong Co. for 17 years as a solderer. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Elkhart and loved painting, cooking, motorcycle riding, traveling and snowmobiling. She served in the Army in world war II.
Friends may call from 2-4 pm on Sunday and from 10 am until the service at 11 am, on Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Pastor Toby Kidder, her nephew, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Hope Mausoleum, Rice Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Greencroft Center or Southern Care Hospice.
