Ernestine J. Johnson

Ernestine J. Johnson, 87,died September 18, 2009 at 11:00 P.M. at Golden Living Center where she resided. She was born on December 4, 1921 in Elkhart, Indiana to Herbert and Minnie (Johnson) Thorpe. She married Irvin K. Johnson on June 29, 1940 in Elkhart, Indiana. He died June 12, 1991.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice L. (Larry) Maier of Elkhart; four sons; David K. (Donna), Thomas K., Stephen K. and Roger K. (Susan) Johnson all of Elkhart; three grandsons, Wesley D. Maier of Elkhart, Keith M. Johnson of Chicago and Lad S. Johnson of St. Petersburg, Florida; three granddaughters, Kristina L. (Max) Milinkovich, Jennifer (David) Bessingpas and Amanda (Joe) Souba all of Minnesota; five great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Sue (Ray) Reas of Elkhart.

Friends may call two hours prior to the funeral service which will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday at Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart. Reverend David Garty, Chaplain at Elkhart General Hospital will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson retired in 1986 from Whitehall Laboratories after 32 years of service. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and liked to listen to High School Basketball. She died under the watchful care of Dr. Mishkin and the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. Memorial contributions may be given to the Concord Fire Department.
