Esther Freeze

Esther Freeze, 84, of Elkhart, passed away at 8:45 pm, February 9, 2009 at Riverside Village, Elkhart.

She was born April 11, 1924 in Elkhart, to J. Warren and Mary (Purcell) Burrell and married G.C. Freeze on December 24, 1948 in Elkhart. He died on June 11, 2004. Surviving are a son, David G. (Sue) Freeze of Elkhart and 3 grandchildren. A brother, Joseph Burrell preceded in death.

Mrs. Freeze was an Industrial Nurse for 12 years at Whitehall Laboratories. After her retirement, she was a teacher's aid for Cleveland Elementary School. She loved animals. She graduated from Elkhart High School and from the St. Joseph School of Nursing in South Bend.

Friends may call from 4-8 pm Wednesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart and an hour prior to the 11:00 am service on Thursday at the funeral home. Reverend Brian Cray of Faith United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Adamsville Cemetery, Adamsville, Michigan.

Memorials may be given to Elkhart Public Library, Cleveland Branch or to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
