Eugene Sobczak

Eugene Sobczak, 87 of Elkhart, passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 18, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisc. to Peter and Veronica Sobczak. He married Dorothy J. Jackson on May 12, 1951 in Baileys Harbor, Wisc. She died on Dec. 5, 2002. Surviving are 4 sons, David (Michelle) Sobczak of Genesse, WI, John P. and Jeffrey J. Sobczak both of Elkhart and Thomas J. Sobczak of Bristol; a daughter, Jane M. (Douglas) Wise of Granger; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.

Eugene retired as Quality Control Engineer after 43 years from Johnson Controls, Inc. He was former chairman and a member of the American Society of Quality Control. He was a member of the Bristol Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow recipient. He was former president of the Bristol Parks Board and a volunteer and lifetime member of the Elkhart County Historical Museum.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 11 am to 1 pm Friday, Oct. 23rd at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. A procession will leave at 1 pm for a graveside service at Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol at 1:30 pm. Chaplain Dave Severence will officiate.
