Evelyn Thatcher Harris

Evelyn Thatcher Harris, 91, of Goshen, died 7 pm March 5, 2010 at the Maples at Waterford, Goshen.

She was born July 28, 1918 in Russell, Ill to Maynard A. and Florence (Frogge) Williams. She married Paul E. Thatcher on Aug. 28, 1936. He died Feb. 28, 1978. She then married Dale Harris on March 17, 1992. He died April 16, 1994. Surviving are 2 sons, Paul E. (Anne) Thatcher Jr. of Clarkston, Mich. and James R. (Pat) Thatcher, I of Goshen; 2 sisters Isabelle Doyle of Tucson, Ariz., and Dorothy O’Connor of Salinas, Calif.; 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn spent the last ten years in Goshen and was cared for by the Maples at Waterford for the last 3 years.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:30 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. Rev. William Steinke of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Middlebury will officiate. Her ashes along with her first husband, Paul E. Thatcher Sr. will be scattered in Tucson, Ariz where they both resided.
